Eccles Family and Local Leaders Celebrate Groundbreaking of Goldener Hirsch Residences
PARK CITY – Governor Gary R. Herbert and local officials joined the Eccles Family, development partners, and Summit Sotheby’s International Realty to celebrate the ground breaking of the Goldener Hirsch Residences – the newest luxury real estate project in the Silver Lake Village at Deer Valley.
Since 1992, the Goldener Hirsch Inn has been owned and operated by the philanthropic Eccles family, whose Utah roots date back to the late 1800’s. The Eccles family has contributed close to $1 billion to Utah causes since the 1960s and and has been an integral part of the development of the skiing industry in Utah.
Spencer P. Eccles kicked off the ceremony by talking about the Eccles family memories of the Goldener Hirsch Inn and their family ties to Deer Valley.
Governor Gary R. Herbert spoke about Utah and Deer Valley hosting the 2002 Olympic games, the impact of luxury real estate investments and the leadership of private sector, and how the Goldener Hirsch Inn expansion is an investment that represents confidence for our growing Utah economy and ski industry.
Bob Wheaton, President and General Manager of the Deer Valley Resort, talked about the great impact this new development at Goldener Hirsch Inn will have on the Silver Lake Village as well as the entire Deer Valley community.
Spencer F. Eccles, financier and philanthropist known for his leadership with the Wells Fargo Corporation and other industries, spoke on his passion for skiing and his work with the USSA and the 2002 Olympic Games held in Utah.
Hope Eccles was proud to announce that the Goldener Hirsch Inn had been awarded the “Best Ski Boutique Hotel” in the World Ski Awards for the second time in three years. The award-winning restaurant has earned a wide range of accolades including Best of State in 2016, “Extraordinary” from Zagat, and Top Restaurant recognitions from Condé Nast Traveler, Salt Lake Magazine, The Park Record and Salt Lake Tribune.
Tom Kundig, an owner and principal from the world-renowned Olson Kundig architecture firm based in Seattle, spoke on his vision as the lead architect for the luxury hotel. His modern interpretation of an alpine ski lodge will essentially fill in the last piece of the puzzle for Silver Lake Village. The focus of his design and planning will allow the new hotel to integrate into its surroundings, offering new pedestrian walkways, and opportunities of new spaces for guests to enjoy the outdoors.
The Eccles family expressed their thanks to the members of the development and design team, as well as to local officials and government leaders that have played a role in developing this new project.
The groundbreaking concluded with a special Realtor® event in which the Summit Sotheby’s International Realty sales team were able to present the development and answer questions from the top real estate agents in the region.
